I was sitting with my colleges and were solving many biz problems. I was impressed by the place and view they have thru the window. Coffee was nice served with a smile.
I have visited Battels Cafe on several occasions. I have always had great coffee and fresh, home made scones and cakes. It's a delightful place.
A lovely little café with great English breakfasts, and always an interesting selection of work by local artists on display and for sale.Perhaps a bit on the expensive side, but a nice place to have breakfast in and read one of their books.
The service is fine but the food is a joke. A fancy place for overpriced food. Basically creperie with sauces, cakes are fair enough.
Great views from the Hill of London. Tad bit expensive but worth the views. Outside seating is an added attraction. Arty cafe with books and Art to see, read, buy. Big English breakfast is £15... Love quaint cafes such as this. Highly recommend it..
Lovely eclectic cafe on the hill with often interesting art by local artists for sale.
Visited for a simple tea and coffee. Was handed a dirty cup twice in a row for tea. Without exaggeration, cappuccino was the worst made I have seen for a very very long time - coffee grinds in the cup, milk practically boiled with giant bubbles on top. Not up to the standard of the area by far, Dolls House cafe is a stones throw away.
This place has character and charm ❤
Rude staff and below average, expensive food. Avoid
Nice place for coffee /tea/lunch.
Quiet
A very enjoyable breakfast experience. Friendly hosts and good quality food. A little slow for service but clearly short staffed on that Sunday morning. Delicious looking cakes - that's for next time.
Great views out back and friendly staff
Well, the place is ok, some art there, good coffee, better then I had a months ago..., but if you buy just a coffee they are not happy. This is Big turn Off for the customers. They never smile too:( what a pity for the business. And no music!!???!?!?! Come on put some nice jazz. It's a art gallery! Put some attention to details and you will see more customers. I live in this dead Harrow. This place need some heart beat.
Strange business model; making people pay very high prices for food to offset the fact that you have to pay 5 waiters to stand around chatting.
Love breakfast
Excellent service and good English gourmet restaurant.
Fantastic setting, a nice relaxed vibe, beautiful views from the read terrace. Great artwork adorning all the walls. Great food and amazing coffee plus the staff are friendly and attentive. If this place was mine id be supremely proud. Good job all round Battels!
Interesting place to visit with french Caribbean twist.
Popped into this quirky cafe for a spot of lunch as I was working locally. A friendly welcome from the 2 staff. Hugely let down by an absolutely awful espresso coffee which was so bitter and luke warm and a very average toasted sausage sandwich (cheap sausage) that cost £9.50!! Sorry but if you are going to charge Mayfair prices it has to be much better.
Such a wonderful chilled atmosphere in fabulous surroundings. Such a pity not local to me.
Service was a bit slow even though the cafe was quiet and the English breakfast was disappointing for £7 hence only giving 3 stars. Only one piece of bacon and the sausage was cheap and nasty, I was expecting something nicer for the money although the poached egg was well cooked. The coffee was very nice though.
Totally loved the atmosphere. The breakfast was awesome
Good coffee and friendly service
Absolutely fantastic service!!
Very good food, I recommend the English breakfasts and the crepes.
English breakfast with a Caribbean twist. Querky cafe with great view of Harrow on the hill. Excellent food and service.
Our favourite place in Harrow on the Hill. Great for meeting friends; food is great; service is superb too.
Awful service! Cannot believe we entered and were totally ignored. Sat at a dirty table, still ignored. Staff faffed around chatting and laughing , fixing their apron, washing a plate ignoring us.. Eventually we left. What is wrong with the waitresses in this place? Its so rude. Never again. Don't waste your time.
One of the loveliest cafes in town. Staff is always kind and welcoming. I love how peaceful it is (no loud music, just calm low volume music) so you can actually talk to people you came with. Their coffees and food are delicious and they even changed a meal that is non - vegan into vegan one for me and didn't charge me any extra for the food they changed (in many other restaurants they did!). This is and will always stay the one cafe in Harrow I always bring people who come and visit me from my country and other places around the world. Keep the good work guys and don't listen to the haters who have nothing else to do in the world but complain about others instead of recognising faults within themselves and working on them. Peace and love from me.🙏🏼❤🌞
very nice cozy place, service and host
What can I say....Strolled in to find a quiet cafe with one empty table which was full of old tea cups and plates which has not been cleared away.... There were 3 staff just milling around not doing much... None of whom came to 1- clear the table, 2- enquire about our menu or hand one out.. 3- acknowledge our existence..So after 7 minutes of the staff literally being just 2m away and just chatting amongst themselves we decided to leave. Even after getting up they just looked at us and said nothing.Service was non existence.
Had a lovely time! Nice staff, good service, excellent food, brilliant music.
£3 for a takeaway coffee that tasted of warm milk. No smile either.
Great views
All I wanted was a coffee .......Out walking so I fancied a coffee .popped in asked for a cafe latte to take out. I was looked upon with raised eyebrows. Once I was given the coffee (reluctantly ) Took a sip and it was by far the worst coffee I have had . No taste of coffee ,more like a hot cup of dishwasher. Luckily the bin wasn't far so dropped it in and now I know never to go back.....
Despite the harsh ratings I read here I gave Battels another go and wasn't regretting it. The food is tasty though a bit on the pricy side. I still saw signs of the staff being disorganised but overall I had no issues with them or my orders. Don't go here if you are in a rush but to enjoy its unique atmosphere with a coffee or two.
A little expensive but that's to be expected owing to its location, otherwise very nice.
Friendly place where dogs are welcomed.
So quaint and great crepes
Overpriced and pretentious. When new, this cafe had the potential to be the best in the area but they have inflated prices above the other (already expensive) neighbours. Poor (and aggressive) customer service does not attract me back again. Give business to Blues or Incanto instead....
we have been here a few times, I remember when they first opened, service was much much better. Orange juice....pls with ice...no ice, no smiles, nobody taking orders...you have to wait. Sorry but didnt feel welcome this time. My nutella, ice cream crepe was nice, however they didnt have bananas which i like to have with it....the place looks interesting and cosy, lovely during cold winters, please guys dont lose the spirit and will to welcome your paying customers...
Best French fish soup in the area. Good cream tea. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff.
Really nice friendly local café with quality coffee
Coffee arrived 15 minutes after my friends and was dairy when I'd clearly asked for soy. Wouldn't be back
Informal relaxed cafe vibes. Balcony over-looking beautiful formal gardens. Good coffee. Kids enjoy the strawberry milkshake. Recommend the crepes!
Lovely experience, from the reviews i assume it has taken on board the negative comments from the past year. Have been in for just tea and also lunch and really nice atmosphere and friendly staff
This place in just amazing! It has captured the essence of France in it's characteristics and the Art is a very important aspect of this Cafe. The service and the waitresses are attentive and kind and the artists paint in residence on a regular basis and are from all over the world. It is great to see such talent at work as well as seeing the art all over the walls. It is an inspiration place for adults and children alike, my daughter took her time to look at all of them. You can see that the owner takes great pride in her Cafe... It is a jewel in the Crown of Harrow-on-the-Hill.Not only that.. the coffee is great and you MUST try the chocolate cake!!!!
